I was tasked to optimize and improve the home base asset in Fractured Space, so this is what I came up with in a month! I've managed to reduce poly count by roughly 66% across the asset as well as drastically reducing the amount of materials & textures. Uses a single 2048x2048 material (which holds up even at 1024 at practically all in-game distances), ~197k tris for the entire station LOD0 combined.
Materials are 100% pure Substance Designer, no baking or hand drawing whatsoever involved.
Turret platforms and solar panel energy generator modules are from the old station and will need to be replaced in the future when I get the chance. Original station work & concept by Rob Blight & Alex Clarke.
